It is claimed that this face mask has a whole range of benefits. These include helping to prevent signs of premature ageing, hydrating, reviving, nourishing and moisturising the skin as well as making small wrinkles and fine lines less apparent. It all sounds too good to be true, so does the Balaton Spa Face Mask live up to these high expectations?
The face mask comes in a small pot providing enough for 16 treatments. It is pretty much odourless but is a rather disconcerting black colour. The colour stems from the fact that the actives ingredients are peat and bog water. However, this is no ordinary peat and bog water, this a Balaton Spa face mask made from peat from the ancient shores of Lake Balaton in Hungary. This is a rare therapeutic moorland area that creates a unique peat comprising of hundreds of different types of herbs, plants, and minerals. Apparently, these therapeutic ingredients have remained active as the peat has not dried out since it was created over 20,000 years ago.
So what is the Balaton Spa Face Mask like?
Well I must admit it feels fantastic when you put it on and when you remove it after the recommended three minutes there is no disputing that your skin does feel tighter and fresher. However, when I asked my partner whether he noticed anything different he simply said “nice haircut”. Well, that was to be expected I suppose, but at least I felt better in myself.
Who else is using it?
Lots of famous people – this face mask is the celebrities choice and Gok Wan, Trinny and Susannah are all raving about it. You can get a 100ml jar for £19.95 from Balaton Spa and it currently comes with a free travel bag.
