Aa/rac Inspection Value Whether you pay the £ to have an AA or RAC chap come out to look at the car is a judgement call. I agree with James' comment above in that it is a great peace of mind.
Things to consider probably are:
The reputation of the dealership;
Any warranty given with the car;
The type, age and condition of the car.
The last time I bought a second-hand car, I asked the dealership to MoT it before they sold it. They agreed straight away and I never had a day's trouble out of it.
Had they been reluctant, I might have changed my mind about buying it...or at least called in the RAC or AA to have a look at it for you.
