Can i demand a replacement?

My new phone developed a fault within a month and when i returned it to the store i was told they could send it to be repaired but it could take 28 days, consumer direct says "A repair should be carried out within a reasonable period of time and without causing you significant inconvenience." as far as i am concerned 28 days is not reasonable and is very inconvenient. Can i demand a replacement instead. Do they have to provide one?
