About 2 yrs ago my boyfriend purchased a TV that cost £400 from Play.com and it had an extended warranty of 2 years. In the last six months there started to be problems with the TV.

We contacted Play who told us it wasn't their problem and that we would have to get in contact with the manufacturer. We tried this but the manufacturer went out of business. We can only find information about the UK distributor.

We took the TV for repair and Play.com refunded this repair but within a few weeks of the repair being done the TV broke again. This time we were told that the problem with it was the LCD screen and that the repair centre were unable to source this and this made the TV unrepairable.

We got back in contact with Play.com and asked them for a replacement TV but they are now telling us that due to the usage and age of the TV we are only entitled to £180 refund.

We obviously feel cheated here as the TV was a lot of money at £400 and it didn't even last two years. To get a replacement to the same spec would cost a lot more then £180. You can still buy the same TV's online and two years after we bought ours they are still £366-£390 new. Are we entitled to more from Play.com then they are offering?
