I wonder if someone can help me figure out what's my position as a consumer.

My bf paid £100 desposit for a car from a used car place. The seller agrees to send car for a 20 point check, fix any problems and mot before handing car over. This is standard proceedure for their dealer. We knew a few obvious things needed fixed which he agreed with.

He said average time would be 1 week before we could pick car up, so phoned a week after paying deposit and they said there were a few extra things they found needing done and sent to specialist to do. Anyway after calling each week for 3 weeks they offered a refund which we declined cause rather have the car fixed.

Now they are talking about refunding without a choice. In my opinion they are having to do more work on the car than they expected, decreasing their profit. And they will sell car for much more now fixed.

Do they have the right to refund without giving reasons etc? We have a contract saying we paid deposit etc and what's still due. My bf has had 3 weeks insurance on this car and we haven't even jot it
