The million dollar question- is it the store or the service provider?

Hi

I bought a Blackberry 8900 from a Chitter Chatter Store last July on an 18 month contract with T mobile. The track ball has stopped working . I took the phone back to the original store and they said that as they were unable to fix it I should contact T mobile direct.

I did this today but T mobile have told me that the phone will need to be sent to them and repair could take two weeks. They will not send a replacement handset and say that the store where I bought the phone should do this. All they kept advising me to do was to put the sim into another phone (which I dont have!)

Are they right and should I go back to Chitter Chatter?
