I have recently join a council run gym, I am not happy that it gets so overcrowded at times that you have to wait to use machinery, and i really wanna cancel the membership, but there is 2 month notice required, however, the contract says, under the Direct Debit Guarantee, that I can cancel Direct Debit at anytime, shall i just tell the bank to cancel direct debit?

also if tht doesnt work, can i get a doctors note because i have a lung collapsation problem? can i try the first method first?

I was a member at a David Loyd when I tried to cancel my account with them as i couldn't afford the membership. When it got to the point of going to the people behind the desk i tried every thing they where till it got to the point where i said i would cancel the direct debit. They then said that it was against the law then i said i will talk to you manager and sue then i got my contract canceled.
