Hi, any advise much appreciated. I hired a car in went to Godalming. The trees/bushes on a road were cut to the side of the road , no paths. Country road. But as I drove past my left wing mirror hit a very large tree branch that had also been cut off right at the edge of the road meaning my left mirror clipped it.It was hidden within the bushes. I was honest and called the hire company straight away. They thanksd me for the report and made out that was it. Until today when they sent me an email saying I was liable. The accident was not my fault it was the councils for not cutting back the tree trunk properly. I have told them roughly where the accident was although I am probably going to have to go back and check. The council is liable. Clear case. Do they have the right to pursue payment for the damage from me?
