Here is an elaborate credit card scam that targets people renting property. A person claims that they want to rent your property but lives abroad. They may say they are going to do a course or have another reason for coming to the country.

They also give a reason why they can't send an electronic bank transfer, Western Union etc. What they want to do is send you a credit card transfer. But of course they need your credit card details to do this. In the example below they ask you to tell them your credit card limit - which is something they don't need to know to do a transfer.

This is obviously a scam. This scammer pretended to be British but the email below came from Nigeria. Where these scammers have time to send several emails just for one payout. If they can get £200 it is worth several hours work.

The English and grammar is very poor which is common amongst low level scams out of Nigeria. Here is the email a scammer sent to a prospective landlord:
