My electricity bills seem to have gone through the roof recently and I am trying to reduce it. One thing that is on my mind is which appliances and devices use all the power in the house. Is there any way I can find out? I leave my PC on most of the time - how much power does a PC use?

You can buy a small pass through device for £10 from Maplin that will allow you to calculate the cost of running electical devices. It will probably pay for itself very quickly

Most items will have a power rating that will give you an indicatrion of the power they draw.

Remember that things on stand-by still consume a lot of electricity...so switch off the DVD player and TV as well as anything else you can think of.

Outside porch lights are another thing to consider...how many people really come to your door at 3 in the morning??
