What are my rights?

I brought a VW 4Motion 2.8 v6 from a dealer at a cost of £2750 on 30 October 2010 and today on 08 November (today) the bottom pully sheered off, leaving me stranded.

I have been trying to research what to do next, and if the dealer would be liable for the repairs, cost of recovery and hire car i will be needing.

On the invoice given, the trader has written by hand 'no warranty implied or given, sold as seen' however, the consumer rights sale of goods act 1979 says 'Some dealers may use disclaimers such as ' Sold as Seen', 'Trade sale Only' or 'No Refund' to try and limit your rights. However, these rights cannot be taken away or restricted by a dealer'.

Therefore, am i correct if i contact the dealer to get him to repair, or fund the repair of the car, and if he insists car was 'sold as seen' then what do i do next? Is there a template letter available to take the matter further?

Many thanks
Michele
