i bought a White gold necklace and pendant approx six months ago. It was second hand from a jewellers near where I live. The chain broke and I luckily found it in my bed. I returned it to the shop and they said they'd repair it. Got a phone call the other day saying it was ready to be picked up along with the cost of repairing it! The necklace cost over £100 and I would've thought it reasonable to expect them not to charge me is it misuse to wear a necklace to bed?

If it was second hand then it may be more fragile than newer jewellery so i wouldn't recommend wearing it to bed. The thing is they have charged you and i assume you paid this charge, so there's not really a chance of getting your money back.

I know it's unfortunate, but personally I would expect to be charged a (small) sum if I wanted my necklace repaired. Necklaces aren't really durable enough to be worn to bed. Sorry!
