Wrong Oil Used By Garage

Hi,

Took my car into a local garage recently and they drained the oil from my gearbox and replaced it.

Before doing so, I mentioned that I knew which grade oil needed to be used, as recommended in my handbook for the vehicle (75w-85, GL-4), but the scoffed at me and said they knew which oil to use.

I've since noticed that on the invoice for the work carried out, they've used a different grade of oil which is 75w-90, and not 75w-85.

I'm not entirely impressed with their inability to select the correct oil for my car, and, having contacted several independent garages, have been advised that in the long run it probably won't do the car any good and lead to a premature end to my gearbox (and lead to a rather large repair bill).

In this circumstance, does the Supply of Goods & Services act come into place? The garage say it won't do any harm, but I'm not happy that they've poured the wrong oil into my vehicle.

Thanks
