Hi there, wanted your advice please. I bought a JVC camcorder Dec 08 for £225. Last week the zoom button failed and Currys said cannot help and directed us to JVC. We were told by JVC repair company it would cost a non refundable £55 to access the fault and then would be quoted on additional repair costs.
Both Currys and an indepentant camera shop (also said they had never seen this sort of fault before) said it was likely to be a faulty button and spares can only be obtained from JVC.
We have written to JVC asking them under the Sale of Goods Act 1979 to please repair the camera for free of charge stating it has had average use and been well looked after. Also that it was bought in good faith as JVC are usually good quality and dependable.
They have replied ignoring all our points saying because it is out of one year gaurentee we will have to pay for it.
Where can we go from here?
I wish to write back to them
Many thanks
John
