I am currently having major issues with VISA. On Monday I paid my British Gas bill (Gas & Electricity) online and went through the verification process as payments were in excess of £300. When I checked my account on Tuesday I found that VISA had debited my account 4 times which totalled in excess of £1000.00. On contacting my bank I was told that VISA had produced 4 authorising numbers, three of them without my consent in order to pay British Gas. In addition when the bank contact VISA on my behalf I was alarmed to hear that British Gas and VISA have an arrangement that a verification code is not required regardless of the value that is being debited. According to my bank(nationwide), this was the first time they have heard this and will be fully investigating. However I am still out of pocket as VISA and British Gas are still deciding who is to blame.
