Empty letter - any indication of a scam?

Hi, first-time poster here.

I've just received an empty letter, and am puzzled. An A4 sheet with nothing on it, apart from my name and address. The envelope is just a plain white window envelope with no logo or anything, just the postmark.

I first assumed somebody somewhere was trying to send me something but forgot to enclose it. However, I'm wondering if someone's attempting some sort of scam, but I can't think what. I'm just about to move home so I'm wary.

I did find on a US forum a "recorded delivery" scam whereby someone would use proof of delivery of a letter as evidence of sending something else (but not actually send it) so they can later take you to court for supposed non-payment or something.

Anyone else have any ideas?
