Taking a lead from the high street, the estate agency Countrywide has held a one-day sale of property, apparently offering discounts of up to 40%. Some people queued all night to buy properties, mostly belonging to developers or builders who were desperate to get them off their hands.

I can see the logic behind this, but rather than get the market moving, as Countrywide claim, I think it's just likely to depress prices even further, which is not what we sellers need right now.

I agree it is definitely a buyer's market at the moment. Even though I do not own a house, looking for new cheaper places to rent is difficult too. Prices have shot up due to people not buying as they were.

Luckily we have found somewhere and are moving in January!:D
