Repossessions have risen, according to the BBC. I was watching a programme on tv last week about repossessions and they advised that repossession should be really the last resort - make sure you pay your mortgage, electricity etc as absolute number one priority and they also advised speaking to your mortgage company as soon as possible if you are getting into difficulties. They also suggested going to your citizens advice bureau.
