The cover is probably free, but probably not worth having. I read somewhere that only 1/3 of policies pay or perhaps it was a third that don't. They will use this as an opportunity to upsell for sure, so be prepared. If you do go for it make sure you declare absolutely everything regarding your health - this is how they get out of paying.

You usually find with these sort of offers that you have to give payment details which will automatically kick in after your free 12 months if you don't cancel and they rely on people forgetting to do so. Read the small print carefully but don't just dismiss everything that is offered for free.

I had a similar offer from RBS 8 years ago for critical illness cover and threw it in the bin, a few months later I had a brain hemorrhage and had I took the cover out I would have had my mortgage paid off and a nice wad of cash but thats just the way my luck runs!!!!

With this offer it appears you have to die to take advantage!!!
