Gas prices to soar 30% in weeks

Surely, this cannot be allowed to happen.

I could understand it if these companies were on the breadline, but they are recording vast profits.

If it does happen, then I am afraid that I will be cancelling my maintainance contract with them of £30 a month to pay for the extra gas. I really do not want to do that, especially as I had to call them today to fix an electrical problem with the wiring in the house (I am, as I write, waiting for their electrician to arrive).

I've already made cutbacks to how much gas I use. Or at least tried to. The thermostat is down, the timer is on less and less and no matter how much I try my bills go up and up...

It is so frustrating and I am guessing I am not alone.

If ever there is a need for an organised consumer group to take on something, it is the utility companies. Unfortunately I feel legislation is in place that effectively has our hands tied before we start.

What a lovely thought on the back of the financial crisis and Christmas eh?
