Phones 4 U and their selfish way of working

Hello,

A week and a half ago, I was browsing for phones on the website when a button putted up allowing me to chat to a "phone specialist" online. I thought I'd give it a go to talk about different phones and ended up ordering a new one - this was perfect for me as I'd injured myself the week before, meaning I didn't need to go to the shop to get this. The whole thing was painless, I could order online and the phone was soon with me.

However, the phone was faulty and won't make or receive calls. Phones 4 U told me to phone up and resolve this. I said I had no landline and my phone's not working. They told me to go to a shop to speak about this. I said I was (and still am) confined to the house through injury. They told me to go to a landline and phone. And this kept going on. They've been trying to phone me but my calls don't work. Today, I got an e-mail saying they trust my case has been resolved when really I'm more furious than ever about the whole thing. Even though I'm still stuck in the house with a phone that won't work.

Basically, this company will make the process of handing money over to them and agreeing to a 24 month contract VERY easy but when it comes to helping you, you either have to spend money making calls or get yourself out to a shop. This isn't the first trouble I've had either - last year with a broken phone they made the whole process as enduringly painful as possible but that's another tale for another time.

I'd strongly advice dealing directly with phone networks - they're beginning to offer early upgrades in light of Phones 4 U's tactic and any time I've had a problem with a phone when dealing directly with the network, they've sent a phone out the next day if it's been a factory fault or do all they can to help. Phones 4 U will just sit back, count their money and make you jump through hoops in order to get what you should be entitled to as a customer by law.

As I'm new, I can't post links on here but a quick Google will show you how many complaints there are about the customer service as well as the companys background in mis-selling.

So cancel, they are under contract to provide you with a phone/network coverage and have failed miserably, also you could have cancelled this under the distance selling regulations within a week of receiving the phone but as you have complained and they have given you no method of redress, I'd try this one too.

Thankfully, as I'd registered my complaint within a week of receiving this and they've acknowledged this, I can return it. So now all I need to do is sort out a landline or wait until I'm fully back on my feet and take some time off work to drive out to my shop to drop the phone off.

It seems so simple but you'd think there'd be something in place to say that if someone bought something online, they should be able to return it through the same online channel. Not with these guys, common sense and any notion of customer care isn't part of what they do.

Well I would disagree with them, If I were you I would package the phone up, enclose a covering letter explaining that you have cancelled the contract under both the Distance Selling Regulations and their breach of contract. I assume there is someone who can take it to the post office and return it GU
uaranteed Delivery to ensure it gets there and you have proof.

Good luck, don't accept any liability off them at all.

That's perfect! Getting this to the post office is no hassle at all. I'll do this then, thanks very much for your help!
