Lost boot

Please can anyone help, I know this seems petty but I'm just fed up of the attitude of people. My husband took an expensive pair of boots into a shoe repairers to get them re-heeled. He came home without a ticket which I was not happy about. When he went to collect them the shop had given out one of my boots to somebody else but he didn't know who and so told us we would have to wait until the boot was returned. Surely this can't be right. I must be entitled to some form of protection against this sort of incompetence, and what happens if my boot is not returned? As I now have no form of evidence that he ever had my boots for repair. Someone please help. There is a terrible atmosphere in my house at the moment.

Thank you
