Fitted Wardrobes Dont Work

Hi

We recently employed some local carpenters to make some fitted wardrobes. The quality of the work was OK (not brilliant). In one of the rooms they were installed under the eaves. Everything appeared OK until we attempted to hang clothes in the wardrobe. The rail is too low to hang anything, thus making the wardrobe useless. I have contacted the carpenters. They pointed out that the reason the rail is so low is because of the eaves and that normal rail heights would be much higher. I didn’t think I had to consider all of this when purchasing a wardrobe – especially an expensive custom made one. We have been quoted another £900 to fix the problem. Do I have any rights to get this fixed under the fit for purpose laws?

Thx

Andrew
