The BBC is reporting that a quarter of pensioners have been left out of pocket or in debt because of mistakes in payments from the Department of Work and Pensions. The DWP has regularly overpaid Pension Credit, and then seeks to claw it back by reducing future payments, leaving people with less money than they expected. In total, there has been £290 million of mistakes.

However the government have said that they won't be forced to pay back the money they have been overpaid...

How magnanimous!

It reads well this doesn't it? The Government fails to pay people what they are owed, and then what they do pay to people is the wrong amount according to the criteria that they have set up!

Sometimes it is like being governed by the Marx Brothers.
