Some 12 months ago (yes it's 12months) my sidster went on holiday and paid £60 to cover their insurance for the holiday. in their hotel foyer, they were browsing the various ntice boards and thomson folders. The 2 children 5-8 , although they had their nintendos in a bag, the children as they do moved away an left the bag on a sofa, but only a few yards away.
within the space of 5 minutes they noticed the bag had gone, they duly contacted reception and the reps, and later went to the police and reported the matter.
Now after submitting all the information receipts etc to Insure and go, they now say that the claim will be refused on the basis that the bag was left unattended and not covered under the terms of the agreement. Yes there is a clause that says items left unatended other than in your room is not covered.

But, what does "unatended" really mean, they were within a few yards of the property browsing folders etc, so are insure and go really right to refuse any payment.
Comments welcome please.

It's a good question and an excellent way for them to squirm out of paying, I would guess that if you are not physically holding the bag, then it is unattended, whether turning your back on it is a good enough excuse for them not to pay is another matter, insurance is covered by the FOS so you could always let them decide although you would have to go through Insure and Go's complaints procedure, even though you have already been arguing about it for 12 months.
