Egg has been fined by the Financial Services Authority for mis-selling insurance, and could now face compensation claims running into the millions. The case related to Egg's selling of credit card payment protection insurance. Staff were told to over-emphasise the positive aspects of the insurance and shockingly, some customers were signed up for it without their consent.
I have to say I never buy this sort of insurance - I'm sure some of the time it is actually a good thing, but I'm so put off by this sort of story that I just always assume I'm being scammed!
