I have a car which I no longer use and is of the road. The finance company did not collect the car as I had paid too much. They have now sold the debt to another company. I would like to sell the car and pay off the debt but it is still showing as having finance outstanding even though the debt collector has made me an offer to settle. How can I get the HPI changed ?

Debtors retreat
The only way you can do it is buying paying off the outstanding debt on the car, I know this is a problem but you just need to make buyers aware that you will pay it off when you sell the car and offer to provide them with proof that you have done so.

It may make the car a little more difficult to sell but it is only a problem if you sell the car and don't pay it off.
