Shiply are an online company that offer to match you with a transport provider to move large bulky goods and are often used for finding someone to move a car.

The idea is great, but in practise the company have an appalling reputation for customer services when things go wrong. (try a google for 'Shiply problems' and 'shiply refund')

The main issue is that once you accept a quote from a transport provider you have to pay a deposit and a fee (a fee to find someone to do a job you are going to pay them to do !!). If the transport provider doesn't do the job and you ask for a refund (your rights under the sale of goods and services act 1982 are a full refund), Shiply then point to their User Agreement which states that they don't give refunds even when you don't get the service. they instead insist they will only give a credit note. This breaches the Unfair Terms in contract legislation.

There are plenty of other providers of this type of service and my advice regarding Shiply is to stay well clear of them
