The Royal Mail has announced that in April 2009, the cost of first and second class stamps will increase by 3p each.

Stamps to yet again increase by more than rate of inflation - Telegraph

I can't really comment on this without sounding bitter. Over the 14 years I've been in business, I have had more problems with the Royal Mail than anything else. While I can't really say 39p is a great deal to pay to get your item from where you are to it's destination (It would cost a lot more to deliver it yourself) what I don't like is that they continually cut services and offices and yet the price still keeps on increasing.

That and the fact that at some point or another over Christmas the workers will be off out on strike drives me to distraction.

Well I think this is wrong at the same time that they are closing post offices.

I agree you should pay more for a premium service but why are second class stamps also going up by the same? I think this is to pave the way to privatisation of the post office. It won't be long before it's 50p to post a letter.
