26th December was a much needed boost for retailers as shopping centres across the country were inundated with people seeking bargains.

While good news for retailers, I feel it is misleading in some ways. Conditions have been ripe for some time for the sales post Christmas to be bigger than normal as people have been more prudent up until then. Despite the advertised 70-90% off, the items I have looked at as possible buys, such as a tumbledryer, desktop PC and even just some kitchenware, have not been marked down in price anywhere near as much.
