Carpet reverse pile issue

I had a new carpet fitted less than 6 months ago and already it looks a mess due to reverse pile. I have referred back to the supplier who contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer sent an inspector. I have now been advised that this is not their issue and that they will not do anything about it. I am considering contacting the Office of Fair Trading to get advice. The supplier says they have no responsibility but surely this cannot be the case - the goods are not fit for purpose and look a disgrace. If I had spent this much on another consumer item I would have received a refund by now. Does anybody have any experience or advice regarding this?
