Hotel cancelled, will I have to pay ?

I booked a hotel (Accor) many months ago, at a prepaid rate. The whole amount appeared as 'Amount prepaid' on the booking, although my CC was not charged.

With just 2 months to go, I had to cancel the booking. The cancellation says 'Prepaid amount is not refundable' although I havent paid anything.

Does this mean that they will still try to charge my credit card ?
I get different stories from different people there when I phone them.

Is a 'prepaid' amount the same as a 'guaranteed payment' ???
