Hello
I hope someone can offer me some advice please!
I purchased a leather sofa and chair in August 2011. Cost £1500. It was bought from a local ‘small’ company (not one of the large furniture chain of shops)
However the middle seat of the sofa has now ‘collapsed’….as there is only me in the house it has not been used excessively or abused in any way!
Will I have any rights under the fit for purpose section of the SOGA?
Would/is it be reasonable to expect the shop to fix this for me after this amount of time?
I Just wanted some advice before I get in touch with the shop. Thank you

Just an update in case anyones interested?
I went to the shop today. The owner said that I had a twelve month warranty on this purchase and that because it was now out of it's warranty I would have to pay to have it fixed. When I asked him about it being 'fit for purpose under the SOGA' he said in quite a threatening tone ' I have been in this business for 29 years and I Know the law and what your entitled too'.....
Thanks anyways for all you replies? ... guess another £1500 is down the drain
