Hi, I'm wondering what the best idea for promoting my new business would be is? For instance, I'm thinking of just handing out flyers on the local high street - but are there any laws/rules for this? Also, I might as well just drop the flyers through letterboxes, direct to my customers? I'm thinking of backing this all up with some posters in select shops and locations.

Any ideas, tips and thoughts on this please?

There are no laws regarding flyer distribution, but there are regarding flyposting. What are you trying to promote?

A shopping mall might ask you to not distribute flyers on their site - it is private property after all.

The main thing about promotion is that it is always a lot of hard work - be prepared for that.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the nature of your site?
