I bought a TV (22" LCD with DVD) from Currys for £200
14 months after purchase it stopped working.
After a number of emails they have agreed compensation under Sales of Goods Act.
They key question is How Much?
I start from the point that
the TV might reasonably be expected to last 6 years
It is 2 months out of warranty in other words, 2 months earlier and I would have received a new TV
So I have 'used' 2 months out of the remaining 60 months (5 years) life of the TV
And so any reduction in price should be limited to 2/60 of £200 or 'not very much
Currys are offering £122.
Anyone got any experience of what a sensible number might be?
