Airport shopping

I realise this isn't exactly a newsflash, but until recently I hadn't appreciated that tax-free shopping in airports didn't only apply to booze, fags and perfume. Returning from a trip to Finland recently, I spotted a MacBook Air in Dixons at Heathrow priced at £1,020: Apple are currently selling it for £1,199.

I very nearly bought it there and then, but decided to restrain myself. However, I have been planning to buy one anyway, so I think I am going to be making that purchase when I'm next at the airport.

So the moral of the story is, if you know you're about to make a large IT related purchase, it might be worth waiting until you next go on holiday and buying it at the airport.

Hi GG,

This is great advice you can also order your gear in advance to make sure they have it for you. They can also deliver to your home, so you can buy larger things like televisions too.

Dixons Tax Free

This isn't really tax free - they are just discounting the VAT.
