Alternative to passport photo machines?

I keep needing passport photos for various work events. I generally can't claim the cost of these back, as you don't get a receipt, and it costs £4 a pop. I'm sure there must be a cheap/free way to get these printed off without going to one of those rip-machines. I've got a camera on my computer but is there a website or program I can use that will print off my photo in the right size?

I've heard that there is software you can buy that will produce passport photos from any photograph on your computer, sizing it correctly and altering the background colour, though I can't remember what the software is called. Alternatively, you could try taking a photo of yourself against a nuetral background (such as a white fridge/freezer), printing it off and cutting it to size. It may also be worth looking at printing services such as Photobox to see if they offer passport sized prints.
