cancellation rights

i agreed to buy a second hand car and paid £200 deposit i changed my mind and cancelled the sale the next day.the trader said that i would have to pay 10% of the purchase price.when i signed after paying the deposit i was not told the deposit was non refundable or about the 10%cancel fee, iwas not given a copy of the paper i signed he is now talking of court action help.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum, but there is bad news. You entered a contract to buy the car, there is no cooling off period unless this was done over the phone, internet etc. or away from the traders normal place of business e.g. your home. The trader could potential recover the full amount through a small claim.

just wondering if signing into a contract for a mobile phone has similar circumstances.
however when i signed the contract i was only 17 is this contract therfore still legally binding
