If you love your books, you might enjoy Good Reads as a way of keeping a record of your reading, checking out reviews of potential reads, and getting your hands on free books. They have a selection of giveaways that you can register an interest in. I put myself down for a book I hadn't heard of, by an author I didn't know - One Moonlit Night by Caradog Prichard (in English translation from Welsh), and it was one of the most enchanting and moving books I have ever read - and I would never have found it but for this site!

I have recently discovered an excellent local book shop, packed from floor to ceiling with a wide variety of books, old and new. Most of the books are sold at 3 for £5, and the store will buy them back at half the price once I've read them.

And don't forget charity shops. I just found a huge selection of classics and all for the grand price of 20 pence. (Each not all but not bad!).
