We will be moving house in the very near future. We hope to find a removals company that works. We have heard of several stories of moving situations where the clients got 'ripped off' - is there a national association, or qualification/license that genuine removals companies should have or belong to?

I have asked several local companies if they are members of the British Association of Removers. Many of their responses are that it is a costly organisation with few benefits for them - but they are the small companies, who may be good little family firms struggling.
I will shop around and try and get refferals, as well as quotes from the large companies.
