We did the correct thing. Bought the flat, using a good solicitor - who did all the 'searches', etc. We were told that the 'ground rent and charges' would be £95/ month. When we had completed the purchase, the managing company sent us a letter to set up the debit for £117 monthly.
The solicitor says that the managing company did not tell him that there had just been a AGM, altering the charges - so he was correct. The managing company say "it is the problem of the solicitor to correctly inform me".
We followed the system - it didn't work. At least the solicitor is happy!
