I have two credit cards that I have not used for years, though I have not cancelled them. I recently heard that having unused credit cards can be bad for your credit rating. Does anybody know if this is true?

I can't see why, unless you applied for loads (and got them), as the constant applications for credit wouldn't look great on your file.

I think that's exactly why - lots of credit cards and lots of credit card applications looks bad and will affect your rating. At least that's what I've been told and I think I have applied for loads over the years - should have found this site earlier!
