The National Consumer Council has announced that it will become easier for victims of identity fraud to sort out their records with a new service launched by three credit reference agencies, Experian, Equifax and CallCredit.

Basically you now only need to call one of these agencies if your identity has been stolen, and they will speak to the other two. They will also contact financial services agencies on your behalf.

No information on whether this is a free service, but anything that simplifies this process is welcome - I've heard horror stories about people spending years trying to get their records corrected.
