As if the housing market was not slow enough my neighbour has just told me that the buyers that put in an offer for the house next door to them have withdrawn to wait and see what is happening to "stamp duty". The Government has really messed up, especially Caroline Flint - the Housing Minister - who should be sacked for suggesting that Stamp Duty may be temporarily abolished.

The Governement are considering doing the same to Home Information Packs (HIPS) or will at least make them voluntary. However, unlike Stamp Duty the DCLG has not made the public aware of this and are stating that there is no review and the home packs will not be abolished - they cannot do anything else.

I agree that this is disgraceful behaviour by the government...

Their ineptitude and inconsiderate actions are causing a major impact on ordinary people's lives. I'm normally not a particularly ardent government-basher, but this lot are in a disgraceful disarray and the sooner we are shot of them the better!
