Always Something

My water is playing up, getting hot only when it feels like, and it's been like this for the about four days. Somebody has left the freezer door open, and all the food has defrosted so had to be thrown out, and to top it all off, my dishwasher may be broken. I came to empty it this morning only to find that a plastic chopping board had melted around the element (I think it's called an element, the bit that gets hot). I have managed to free the melted chopping board but have yet to try the dishwasher to see if it still works. Can this week get any worse?

Thanks for that, Witch Consumer. I intend to take a look at my contents insurance to check whether I am covered for the food lost from my freezer, and for how much. The good news is, my dishwasher still works. The house stunk of melted plastic when I first tried it on it's normal cycle, though that cleared after a few runs.
