Has anybody had bad experiences hanging a TV.

We are planning on fitting a wall mounted TV. Now - it has been decided! - the tv has to be a monster.
I'm wondering how reliable the fixings are in modern walls. Does anybody have any bad experiences, or good suggestions, to recount?

Sorry no experience but be careful. I think a toddler died recently because a television fell on her. Obviously one of those terrible accidents that nobody could have forseen but will make you think about checking the weight, etc.
