I've read that Swindon have switched off their speed cameras and will use the money it costs to maintain them on other road safety measures. I'm all for switching off every speed camera in the country. Most drivers know exactly where the speed cameras are and will slam their brakes on to slow down only for the few seconds it takes to pass the speed camera before speeding up again. A very dangerous way of driving. I support taking whatever measures necessary to stop dangerous drivers. I just don't think speed cameras are the answer.
