Hi,

My daughter bought a Freelander from a dealer last Wednesday, 31st July,
When it was test driven a noise was heard coming from the rear on occasions,
the dealer thought it was probably just a worn bush and not to costly to repair so my daughter bought the car. On having it inspected by a Landrover specialist it turns out to be the IRD unit with a repair cost of £900 plus labour plus VAT. What rights does she have with the dealer in respect of returning the car for a refund or the dealer covering the cost of the repair?

Thanks

Tony

It depends how old it is and how much she paid i.e. if it is 20 years old and she paid £100 then she can't do much. If it is 1 year old and she paid £20000 then you can demand a repair and a loan car while it is being fixed. As you have just taken ownership you may be able to reject it and demand a refund.

In that case you can do the latter, if they give you any problems call Consumer Direct. The rightscare defined in the Sale of Goods Act
