Hi - I need some advice please. I have had to invoice somebody for some work done, however they've come back to me saying they need a PO. Do I need to be a registered company in order to get paid? I only earn a tiny amount that is way below the taxable allowance each year so have not bothered to ever register myself as anything. What do I need to do?

No, just needs your name, address and work carried out with a reference number. I think Word has some invoice templates.

Hello Rachelle

Having read this post, I think they mean a 'Purchase Order' number, it is up to the client to provide that for your invoicing purposes.

It makes it eaiser for larger organisations to pay from the correct budget.

My own puchase orders start M0000xxx the xxx are sequential numbers starting at 001, I put these on orders so when invoices come in with the PO number, I can quickly match it to the budget heading in my accounts.

If you have not got a Puchase Order number from the client, you'll need to go back to the person that booked you for the article and sak them to supply it.

Regards

Michael
