This week sees the launch of an ingenious nationwide treasure hunt to find a glass bottle which has been hidden in a mystery location, somewhere in the UK. Whilst the bottle itself pledges only a modest £100 the lucky person finding it could be on their way to a far greater fortune of up to £100,000.

This new treasure hunt is the first of its kind and is being run by MoneyBottle.com, a pixel advertising sales website set up by 21 year old Matthew Milnes from North Wiltshire who just recently graduated from the University of Southampton.

The concept of the site is similar to that of the Million Dollar Homepage launched in 2005 by student Alex Tew which famously made the young entrepreneur into a millionaire. MoneyBottle.com however pledges to share its fortunes by giving away 12.5% of all revenue generated by the website to the person who finds the bottle.

Although the bottle has been well hidden the journey to its location has been filmed and the video, which contains lots of clues as to the bottle's whereabouts, can be viewed on the MoneyBottle.com website. There are further clues to be found by looking around the small advertising blocks on the homepage which surround the video. Those visiting the site can also sign up to the mailing list to keep updated with the hunt as well as providing some additional clues.

Matthew has cleverly stamped out any possibility of scams and false claims by placing inside the bottle a letter which includes three security codes. Naturally, these cannot be seen from the video and anyone claiming to have found the bottle will need to reveal the codes as well as the bottle's exact hiding place. Only three other people know where the bottle is, however they do not know the codes and Matthew is the only person with the precise GPS position details.

Like many students with good qualifications Matthew has found it impossible to find work. However, rather than continue borrowing from his parents he has come up with the treasure hunt idea which he hopes will provide him with the money to pay off his student loans, study for his Masters and invest in some of his other business ideas.

The MoneyBottle.com site could also prove very lucrative for advertisers as it offers one of the cheapest ways of directing traffic to a website. At just £80 per block even the smallest of businesses can get involved and have their advertisement noticed by the many people visiting the site and searching for clues amongst the ads. The earlier an advertiser gets on-board therefore, the more they will benefit from greater exposure.

The treasure hunt will end when all advertising on the website has been sold. However if the bottle is found early the person will receive their 12.5% share of all advertising revenue to that point. The hunt will then continue with a new bottle, video and hiding place. Those finding the second or any subsequent bottles will receive their 12.5% share of all advertising revenue accumulated since that bottle was hidden.

In its first few days the MoneyBottle.com treasure hunt has already grabbed the imagination of lots of people who are now joining the search for the bottle and their potential treasure. To find out more about the UK's biggest treasure hunt click on to moneybottle.com today.
